DECEMBERCHILD BIRTHDAY BENEFIT
Click Here to Buy Tickets ($15)

A special Decemberchild birthday party will be held for people of all ages born near the holidays, their families and their friends. The celebration begins at 7:30PM on December 10, 2005 at The Kuumbwa Jazz Center, 320-2 Cedar Street, Santa Cruz. Admission is $15. There will be free birthday cake served at the party. A raffle will be held for the chance to win an MP3 player, an electric guitar, leather jacket, and more. Children are welcome, but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

The birthday celebration will benefit Valley Churches United Missions, known for its help to needy people throughout the San Lorenzo Valley and Scotts Valley, including gifts to children through their Valley Christmas Project. Last year’s Decemberchild Benefit raised $750 for the Valley Christmas Project.

Live music will be provided by Superior Olive, known for artful rock originals and classics, Lisa Leuschner, known for her appearances on American Idol, and The Carl Wakeland Trio, known for their expressive interpretations of jazz classics. Superior Olive’s lead vocalist and guitarist Tom Savell, a "Decemberchild" organized the benefit "I remember one year getting no birthday party/cake, and "combination" Christmas/birthday gifts. Afterwards, I begged my parents to start celebrating my birthday on June 21st instead. I wanted it to be as far away from Christmas as possible. My parents refused. So many people have had similar experiences. I wanted to have a birthday party for all of us."

Advance tickets are available at Streetlight Records on Pacific Ave., Offshore Music on 41st Ave., and on-line at www.stillfumin.com. Tickets may also be purchased at the door.

Teaming up with Tom are brothers Jacob and Joel Savell. Their music production company, Still Fumin’ Records, is an organization of recording artists and musicians dedicated to making music and making people happy.
